Lauren Curtis  In the United States, social media influencers are as popular as movie stars. We constantly watch their YouTube videos, like their Instagram photos, and share their TikToks. However, how many Americans tend to watch influencers from other countries? After all, they are just as influential as the influencers right here in our backyard. One of the influencers with a large social media following in Australia is Lauren Curtis. Lauren mainly focuses on beauty brand reviews and advice.   Personally, I have never watched Laurens's videos, but through research for this paper, I have come to enjoy her content. She has 3.36 million followers on her Youtube account , where she posts things about her personal life and beauty hacks. According to Lauren's Channel:  "This channel is centered around all things beauty - from makeup and hair tutorials to product reviews and hauls - I've got everything covered! Position Paper 3 - Trending Topics

Trending Topics: BeReal When I think of "Trending Topics," my mind immediately goes to Twitter . I am usually reminded of this due to daily checking the "Trending" tab on the platform.  Oxford Languages defines trending as "currently popular or widely discussed online, especially on social media websites." Not many people are unfamiliar with the term "trending," especially in my age demographic. From a public relations perspective, trending topics can be essential to a marketing campaign and helpful when promoting a company or individual. Sometimes, trending topics can boost a company's reputation, but other times they can do just the opposite.  Like everyone my age, I am always on the lookout for new social media trends and staying with what is popular. Although there is plenty to discuss in the realm of TikTok trends, I came across something that I believe is worthy of discussion itself. Last week, I came across a new social media app th...

Spotify: The Joe Rogan Controversy   Spotify has become very popular for music streamers over the past few years. Although I don't use Spotify, many of my friends and family do. The streaming service has had an excellent reputation with its subscribers; however, this has not protected it from a scandal that has recently brought Spotify into a dim light.  In 2020, Spotify announced that they would be offering Joe Rogan's Podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience ,  on their platform. Reportedly, Spotify offered Rogan $200 million to exclusively have his podcast on the streaming service for three and a half years.  Who is Joe Rogan? Before becoming a significant podcasting personality, Joe Rogan has had many career highlights . By nineteen, Rogan won the U.S. Open Tae Kwon Do Championship and obtained the Grand Championship as a lightweight champion. He became a color commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and has done so since 2002. Rogan has also bee...

Position Paper 1 - International Student Recruitment

Image
The University of Central Arkansas vs.  The University of Manchester  No matter what university you attend, there will be students from other areas of the world. It is always a pleasure to talk to international students and discuss where they are from and why they chose to attend a college so far from their home. Whether it be sports, an interest in the area, scholarship, or an opportunity to further their interest in their prospective fields, international students are targeted or recruited to attend a university. Colleges in the United States and abroad have specific strategies for recruiting students from other countries. As someone who attends college in the United States, I wonder how international colleges recruit students from different countries and how their recruitment strategy compares to that of an American college. Two colleges that I found comparable are The University of Central Arkansas and The University of Manchester.  University of Central Arkansa...
